1958 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe Dealer Light Box Transparency.
Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
This transparency was mounted in a light box that would be displayed in an Oldsmobile dealer showroom to advertise the new car models. The back lighting results in a vibrantly colored image of the model being advertised. Now rare to find, these transparencies were changed out every model year and were often thrown away or lost to time. These are fine examples of mid-century photography, industrial and advertising art. This transparency measures approx. 21"x16.5". These need to be mounted in a light box to be truly appreciated. This is a beautiful example of late 1950's automobile design.
This transparency is in what I would call 'good' condition with no tears or creases. Very minor surface scuffs/scratching and there are pin holes in the outer corners. There is one small imperfection in the outer laminate layer by the woman's head and a small 'printer's hickey' that I believe is a manufacturing defect (see photos). The color is very good and this example will display beautifully when properly mounted and back lit.
