2004 “Fighting Fires With Pride” Belt Buckle Prayer Enamel (Siskiyou Inc.)
“No. 653 of 5000 - 2003 Limited Edition”
“This buckle is the twenty third edition in the American Fire Fighters series.”
This beautiful Buckle measures 3 1/2" x 2 3/4" and is in like new condition with no flaws.
The prayer goes like this:
When I am called to duty, God whenever flames may rage, Give me the strength to save some life Whatever be its age. Help me to embrace a little child Before it’s too late, Or some older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert And hear the weakest shout, And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and give the best in me, To guard my neighbor And protect his property. And if according to Your will I have to lose my life, Please bless with Your protecting hand My children and my wife. Amen
Due to the nature of vintage items, it is often the case they have seen use and been well loved by families in their previous life. In buying vintage, you will find scratches, scuffs, different colored patina or other 'evidence' of the items previous use, with paper items you may see scuffs, small tears or nicks, age tanning. I don't see these issues as "flaws". I feel this adds to the charm, history and character of our items, and gives them something special that contemporary items lack. I always do our best to describe and document items accurately, to point out any big issues with them. Like any vintage item it could use a good bath or polish.
