    Description

    The Order of the Legion of Merit, also called the Order of the Legion of Honor, is an American award of World War II, established at its height, in 1942, July 20, in four degrees, although the project of such an award has been considered since 1937. Initially, it was assumed that the Legion of Honor would become the 2nd most senior US Army service for military merit, but in 1943 it was decided that the first three degrees of the order could only be received by members of the Allied Forces.
