Very Early Large Original WWI (1914) PATRIOTIC BRITISH ENLISTMENT POSTER
    DESCRIPTION:
You will see a lot of WWI posters, but VERY FEW LIKE THIS. DATED 1914, early in the war, AND AN ENLISTMENT POSTER, THE CLASSIC AND MOST DESIRIBLE ENLISTMENT/RECRUITMENT POSTER. THESE SIMPLY DID NOT SURVIVE, ESPECIALLY SUCH AN EARLY ONE.
Specifically, this one has as a subject "THE SCRAP OF PAPER", which holds the German Chancellor responsible for remarking that the Treaty of 1839 between 6 European nations including Germany, guaranteeing Belgium's independance & neutrality, and who simply tore it up. "Germany has trampled on the treaty she signed......can Britons stand by while Germany crushes an innocent people? SCANS SHOW ALL. Very patriotic AND HUGE "ENLIST TODAY" in 2 1/2" letters.
This is a great patriotic poster intended to stir the patriotic spirit and get enlistments. The very soldiers who were encouraged to enlist by this poster in 1914, would become the casualties at Verdun, on the Somme, and many other major campaigns to come.
This one was "published by the Pariiamentary recruiting committee, London". It is listed as "poster No. 7" and was printed in 1914 by Hanbury, Tomsett & Co, London, N.W." ENLISTMENT POSTERS ARE ALWAYS DESIRIBLE, AND VERY RARELY ARE SUCH EARLY ONES FOUND. This one would look great as the centerpiece of a variety of collections or displays.
It will literally go anywhere and with anything, and can be the highlight of your collection
    .
Very patriotic and captures THE COOPERATIVE "work together" spirit of the war effort. Posters were primarily printed as reminders, and were generally pasted on walls, or  put in windows
. Often the ones we see now were "proofs" prepared by the printer before the run was started. Or, kept as souvenirs by whoever put them up. The ones that were used obviously took a lot of abuse and wear and did not survive. This one was obviously kept as souvenir, accounting for its survival.
THIS ONE IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE AND MAKES A GREAT DISPLAY ITEM. Has a couple of relatively small tears where it was folded, which have been nicely repaired on the reverse.
Large size, measuring about 20" x 30". Paper is clean and
    crisp and not worn. V
ery nice overall, especially considering that these posters were never intended to last forever when printed. OVER 100 YEARS OLD NOW !!
A really neat appearing, dramatic, original WWI patriotic 1914 ENLISTMENT POSTER.
REALLY CAPTURES THE PATRIOTIC SPIRIT OF THE TIME !!
